| Alconbury Charity Cricket Match - 24th June 2005
Katie Ockendon, Bunbury's mascot, bowled the first ball of this year's Charity Match at Alconbury, where once again, the Bunburys took on the mighty Lashings. Stars from around the world turned up to raise money for Norma Major's charity MENCAP, including former West Indian captain Richie Richardson, New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns and Australian batsman Greg Blewett. Blewett and Richardson opened for Lashings, but with just two overs bowled, the heavens opened and play eventually had to be abandoned for the day. Despite the huge disappointment, the day continued in the hospitality tents and the social club and many people continued to enjoy the event well into the evening. Thanks go to everyone involved in bringing the day together and to all those who attended. |
